Named by Benchmark Litigation as one of Canada’s Top 50 Trial Lawyers, Howard Shapray has represented leading companies, executives, and entrepreneurs in complex disputes for more than five decades. Described by Canadian business writer Peter C. Newman in his book Titans as “Vancouver’s toughest and ablest courtroom lawyer,” Howard has successfully handled and resolved numerous landmark and high-profile cases.

Recognizing that most lawsuits settle only after long delays and significant costs, Howard has increasingly focused his practice on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to provide parties with more efficient, cost-effective, and constructive ways of resolving legal conflicts.

Howard holds Civil Law (BCL) and Common Law (LLB) degrees from McGill University. A King’s Counsel, he has earned the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating for legal skills and ethics for more than 25 years. His peers have consistently recognized him in Lexpert, The Best Lawyers in Canada, Chambers & Partners, and Benchmark Litigation, and he has received national and international awards, including “Securities Litigation Lawyer of the Year in Canada” (Corporate INTL, 2015).
