Called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1989, David began his career as a business lawyer in the Pacific Rim Group at Bull, Housser & Tupper (now Norton Rose Fulbright Vancouver). Shortly after becoming a partner, David started his own law firm where he specialized in corporate immigration, business and real estate. He was also the Trustee of a major REIT, the founder of two CPCs listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and the Co-Founder of Dundarave Mortgage Investment Corporation.
David began his career as a mediator when he accepted an appointment as a part-time Member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT). Later on, David was appointed as the Chairperson of the CHRT in Ottawa, overseeing all of the affairs of the agency from 2014-2021. Since returning to British Columbia, David has been a contract mediator for the BC Human Rights Tribunal.
Formally trained by the Stitt Feld Handy Group in Toronto, David has handled more than 250 mediations, many for high profile and complex disputes, including for government agencies, banks, airlines and other large organizations. His business expertise is balanced by his compassion for individuals who may have faced discrimination or wrongful dismissal, to which he brings a trauma-informed approach to mediation.
Based in the Greater Vancouver area, David is available for virtual mediations and to travel across Canada for face-to-face mediations.
