Jeffrey Hand has practiced law since 1990 as a civil litigator, with an emphasis on construction claims, professional liability defense work, strata property and development, employment and workplace disputes, product liability claims, and insurance coverage disputes.
Mr. Hand is both a Chartered Arbitrator and Chartered Mediator since 2010 and has conducted in excess of 1000 mediations in a wide range of commercial matters. He is on the mediation rosters of the ADR Institute of Canada, ADRBC, WorkSafe BC, and The National Energy Board of Canada. In 2016 he was admitted as a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, an invitation only organization of pre-eminent international mediators.
As a Commercial Arbitrator and Tribunal Member he has adjudicated in excess of 500 disputes. Mr. Hand acted as a project referee on the BC Hydro Site C Project, where he adjudicated contractual disputes. He is frequently called upon to Chair Dispute Resolution Panels for various projects undertaken by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Mr. Hand is the former Chair of the Safety Standards Appeal Board, and a current member of the Environmental Appeal Board, Forest Appeals Commission, and the Energy Resource Appeal Tribunal.
